Room 505, Sunday Morning

Katchoo didn't even wait to get out of bed, most mornings, before the smoking started. Today wasn't any different, since today more than anything she just wanted to stay there. She'd have loved to pretend the last few days hadn't happened, but she'd hit maximum denial capacity apparently.

So, denial not an option, she lay staring up at the ceiling, not giving a damn about the ashes drifting to the floor from the cigarette dangling from her hand and severely annoyed that she did still give a damn about a couple of other things. The sketchbook she'd had on Thursday lay open on the nightstand and was now completely filled up with drawings, some of them rough renderings and others more thoroughly fleshed out and shaded, all of them looking a lot like Francine.

"Could roll 'em in glitter." Katchoo hated having to work so hard for this kind of conversation. It almost sounded right, but she knew it didn't feel that way.

"That'd just make all the boys start--" Oh. Francine winced, for reasons that had nothing to do with Katchoo. "Maybe not glitter."

Unfortunately Katchoo was pretty damn observant where Francine was concerned. "Don't tell me I have to beat someone up."

"No," Francine said softly. "I just need to talk to him."

Katchoo wasn't going to like the sound of that one way or another, you know, Francine. "Well, I wasn't going to castrate him or make him think I did before I hung him by the wrists in the Macy's front window or anything, geez."

"...Good?" Squeak.

Even though it was tempting if she thought it was justified in the end, argh.

"I hope that'd be your reaction," Katchoo said dryly.

"Ou-- his future children thank you." She didn't really mean it like that, but then again, it was Francine, so she always meant it like that. Assuming there was anything to mean, now, but that was a different post awkward and potentially heartbreaking conversation. "Can I still flatten Worf, though?"

"Will it make you happy?" Katchoo asked half-idly and hoping this wouldn't eventually mean Francine would want to flatten Lois, too.

"It'd make me dead," Francine said with a snort. She was a liiiittle bit more in her right mind today. "But it makes me laugh."

"You look like you could use the laugh, Francie." Katchoo could use one herself, truth be told, and the mental image was evoking a smile, if you could call it that when her facial muscles were just barely twitching like they wanted her to smile, and it wasn't quite happening. "But you can't die on me, got it?"

"Once is enough," Francine agreed with a shudder.

Katchoo nodded vehemently. "More than enough. I'm not losing you." She'd take what she could get, even if it wasn't quite what she wanted; go figure, she'd give anyone else hell for acting this way about anything else. Francine wasn't the only one who could be a hypocrite.

"Like you could get rid of me." She made a pfft sound. "I'd haunt you."

This time Katchoo's laugh was a touch less strained. "And leave messages on the fridge door reminding me to eat every now and then, maybe?"

Francine flapped her hands in what she thought was a ghostly manner. "WhoooOoooOooooOooooO, buy paper toweeeelsssssssss..."

"You can stay alive and do that too, Francie." Katchoo chuckled again. "Dingy broad."

"Oh. Well, in that case, I guess I'll stay alive." Francine nodded, then added, "...Buy paper towels."

"What for? Do I look like I need 'em?" One could argue that yes, she did; on the other hand, one could argue that the state of Katchoo's side of the room was well beyond what meager good paper towels could do.

"Everybody needs paper towels." Francine clucked her tongue. "Also eat every now and then."

Katchoo rolled her eyes affectionately. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll even wash behind my ears and remember to take the trash out, how's that?"

"Then you can have--" Cupcakes would be a bad, bad word choice here, Francine. "Cookies." She paused, though, because cupcakes did remind her. "Um. Do you still want to help with my costume sketches? Because...that...was not what I was thinking of." Like at least a square foot of material less than what she was thinking of.

Katchoo's glance flicked toward her sketchbook, and she wished for a second she had powers like Tiny Creepy Kid did, and could slam the thing shut from here. "I could. If you still want my help with your costume, that is."

That had gone so well last time, hadn't it?

"Of course I do; your drawings are beautiful." Not that Francine could see much of the sketchbook from here, but she recognized it as the one she'd glimpsed in the shop, and thus gave it a look at the same time as Katchoo did. "Besides, I want one that I can get into and out of by myself without a shoehorn and a can of Crisco."

"So you don't need to come to me for help?" Katchoo suggested dryly, then winced at her own tone.
